baby bibs
Our work at the Seeds of Change Crafts Center is always focused on skills development. We attempt to teach these young ladies something useful and how to reclaim fabrics donated to us.
This past month, we focused on making baby bibs for the following reasons:
- Small amount of fabric required
- Useful baby item for the new mother-to-be
- Skills development for hand and machine sewing
- Introduced the concept of making an applique and first use of fusible interfacing
In addition to the baby bib they made for their own forthcoming child, each helped to complete a total of 15 bibs for the Good Shepherd retail shop. Ongoing as we have the donated fabrics, the girls are also taught how to make little gift bags…these are all made from recycled curtain fabrics, old scarves, and/or silk runners. Our cost is the new ribbon and thread we purchase to coordinate.
You can help support our crafts efforts by purchasing an item or donating to our cause. Thank you. Please contact Karen_Ellison@Hotmail.com for more information.
